Former Cowboys Star Makes Bold Claim
Lee Roy Jordan was one of the best defensive players to ever put on a Dallas Cowboys uniform, and a players many argue should be in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
During his career, Miller was selected to five Pro Bowls and made two All-Pro teams. Miller also won the NFL Defensive Player of the Year award in 1973, and won Super Bowl VI with the team.
Despite his achievements on the field, Miller hasn’t been inducted into the Hall of Fame, which is something many blame on the fact that Tom Landry never inducted him into the team’s Ring of Honor, an honor reserved for the best players in franchise history.
After buying the Cowboys, Jerry Jones made things right by putting Jordan in the Ring of Honor. In a recent interview, Jordan said being in the Ring of Honor actually means more to him than the Hall of Fame.
“I’m so happy being in the ring of honor, that’s more important to me than the Hall of Fame. I’m so pleased that Jerry came to me after he bought the team and said there’s a lot of people telling me that you should have already been in here, so I want to put you in the ring of honor.”
Even though most people would rather be inducted into the Hall of Fame than the Ring of Honor, it is not very difficult to understand why Jordan said he prefers the Ring of Honor.
Jordan played for Bear Bryant in Alabama and won a national championship. He then got to play for another legendary coach in Landry, and won another championship.
Jordan, who is already in the college football Hall of Fame, doesn’t need his career to be validated by a bust in Canton, he would rather be among the greatest players to play for the greatest franchise in the NFL.
