Dak Prescott Outperformed Carson Wentz Off The Field
This season, the Philadelphia Eagles finished the season 13-3 and won the NFC East title. The Eagles, who will be playing in the Super Bowl on Sunday, displaced the Cowboys as the NFC East champions after the Cowboys finished the 2016 season 13-3.
Due to the fact that Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz led the NFL in touchdown passes despite missing the final three games of the season, Wentz will be one of the top voters in the MVP race and would have been starting in his first Super Bowl if he hadn’t suffered a season-ending injury.
Wentz’s success this year has led a lot of NFL insiders to proclaim that he is better than Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, who was anointed the next great quarterback after his impressive rookie campaign.
Prescott didn’t play as well as he did in 2016, leading the Cowboys to a 9-7 record. And apparently, fans don’t seem to mind that he regressed a little this season because he had the top selling jersey in the NFL this year.
Prescott, who has played only two seasons in the league, sold more jerseys than five-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady. Since Brady has been in the league for 18 years and has worn the same jersey for his entire career, it is understandable that he didn’t lead the league in jersey sales.
However, it was very surprising that Wentz finished second to Prescott considering the amount of hype he received this year. Either way, Cowboys fans proved once again that they are a very loyal bunch and they love their quarterback.
In an interesting twist, running back Ezekiel Elliott, who missed six games this season because of a suspension, finished third in jersey sales behind Prescott and Wentz, proving once again that the Cowboys are really America’s team.
